The Frontier Fellowship is a month-long artist residency hosted by the nonprofit Epicenter in Green River, Utah (population: 952). The fellowship is defined as: "the exploration of the new field of study of socially-engaged contextual practice," inviting artists into the program who are interested in creating work that uniquely benefits the community. My goal as their Frontier Fellow is to use documentary storytelling to help reverse the narrative of "dying rural America," highlight family-owned businesses, showcase daily life, and provide educational tools for residents so they may learn how to self document, building off of Epicenter’s mission to facilitate the community to be their own storytellers. This project is currently on-going, with continued support from Epicenter.
